Special Interest groups

Wildlife and Nature Photography group
(run by Willie Jamieson & Rita Daubeney )

The Wildlife and Nature Special Interest Group (W&N SIG) is a very active, friendly group that loves to take images of all things nature related. The members shoot at all levels from beginner to accomplished, but we help each other to develop our skills with the more experienced willingly sharing their knowledge. We run regular shoots, workshops and image review sessions all aimed at learning new skills, gaining new photography experiences and having fun.
We have at least one shoot per month from early spring through to late autumn and occasional shoots during the winter months. We cover as many types of nature as we can, with shoots covering seasonal flowers, butterflies, insects, birds and mammals.

Most of our shoots are within easy driving distance of Guildford, with occasional forays, further afield.
Anyone with an interest in W&N photography, thinking of joining the GPS (or an existing member looking to expand their scope), is welcome to join us on one of our shoots or at an image review session.
For more information, please contact Willie Jamieson or Rita Daubeney at wildsig@guildfordphotosoc.org.uk.

The images above are all from our recent shoots.

A visit to Bushy Park in Spring 2021 resulted in great shots of Herons, other aquatic birds and of course lots of deer. Some of these shots are reproduced below.
In July 2021 a group from the W&N SIG visited Bempton Cliffs in East Yorkshire to photograph Gannets and other cliff nesting birds. With great light, we were able to photograph birds in flight from the cliffs and diving for fish from our chartered boat. A few examples below:

We meet at Burpham Village Hall, Guildford, GU4 7LP Monday evenings at 7:45 pm Sept to June.
